Extinction is the only perfect rhyme with distinction (same stressed vowel /ɪ/ and ending /ŋkʃən/). Other -ction words (action, fraction, section, connection, function) share the /kʃən/ ending but have different stress and vowels. Beware of words like 'mention' (/ˈmɛnʃən/) which look similar but lack the /k/ sound.
