Context & Register
语域:neutral 常见场景:日常交谈、观点讨论、心理或性格描述 “pessimist”是中性偏常见的说法,通常用来指习惯预期最坏结果的人,既可用于日常对话,也见于心理或性格相关的讨论中。正式书面语里同样适用,但语气上并不特别强硬或带有学术色彩。
Pronunciation & Spelling
All these words end in -ist and share the final /ɪst/ sound. Pessimist, optimist, scientist, and journalist all have three syllables with first-syllable stress; artist, dentist, and tourist have two syllables, also with first-syllable stress. Note that tourist has /ʊr/ and journalist has /ɜːr/ before /ɪst/, so their vowel sounds differ from pessimist's /e/. Also, lookalikes like pessimism (not -ist) are pronounced /ˈpesɪmɪzəm/, not with /ɪst/.
