发音与拼写Pronunciation & Spelling
All of the words except adverse rhyme with averse: they share the stressed vowel /əː/ and final /s/. Adverse is a useful lookalike but is often pronounced /ˈædvəːs/ with first-syllable stress, so it does not rhyme in that pronunciation. Also watch out for converse /ˈkɒnvəːs/ (adjective/noun) and universe /ˈjuːnɪvəːs/, where -verse is unstressed.
