Pronunciation & Spelling
True rhyme: ambit. Gamble, gambol, and gambler share the gamb- spelling but are pronounced /-æmbəl/ or /-æmblər/, not /-æmbɪt/. Bit and habit match the final -bit spelling and /bɪt/ sound, but because gambit is stressed on the first syllable, they are not perfect rhymes.
